St John’s College School is looking for a part time (27 hours per week) experienced Learning Support Assistant to start as soon as possible.
The role will be working on a 1 to 1 basis with a child with diabetes who will have just transitioned to Year 5, moving from the Junior to Senior part of the School.
This role is subject to continuing funding for this provision and will be on a fixed term basis (funding is confirmed up to the end of the next academic year currently, but is expected to continue thereafter).
The posts involve supporting the pupil through a number of different lessons, working closely with the Class Teacher to ensure that we have the fullest possible knowledge of and understanding of the child’s needs.
Our key concern is to appoint candidates who share our commitment to caring for children. The successful candidate is likely to offer:
• an appropriate qualification and previous experience as a Teaching Assistant
• knowledge in this area and previous experience supporting a child with SEN on a 1 to 1 basis. Experience with global developmental delay/ASD an advantage.
• some knowledge of the KS1/2 curriculum.
• a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• an enthusiasm for the outdoors and a willingness to take part in learning in all weathers.
As mentioned above, this role is dependent on continued funding.
The post is term time only (34 weeks per year). It is a part time role, working 27 hours per week, spread across Monday to Friday, plus a daily 30 minute unpaid lunch break. There will need to be some flexibility with regard to hours worked, according to the needs of the pupil.
A handwritten letter of application should be sent with a fully completed application form to Mrs Karen Close, HR & Compliance Administrator as soon as possible. We will be holding interviews as and when suitable applicants apply, and therefore reserve the right to close applications early.
St John’s College School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
All appointments are subject to a criminal background check and proof of qualifications in accordance with the requirements of the Children Act.
