Job Purpose: As an Academic Assessment Officer, you will be responsible for the assessment of applications for entry into Sunmarke School; and for the provision of high-quality advice regarding assessment-related queries from parents, students, and staff.


Responsibilities:

Work along with the admissions team and senior leadership team in managing the assessment and grading process of students who apply for admission. 

Administer, observe, and assess students across year groups. 

Based on your assessment, prepare a report, and make recommendations to the senior leadership on the suitability of admission.

Coordinate with the Special Education Needs (SEN) or EAL (English as an additional language) departments if the need for further assessment is identified.    

Administer various tests i.e., online multiple-choice cognitive ability test, verbal, non-verbal, spatial, and quantitative reasoning.  

Conduct and administer the assessments as listed below that are relevant for various year groups.

            -  Play-based assessments for younger children. Assess the child’s overall cognitive ability; phonics, languag,e and communication ability; recognition o  shapes and toys; EAL (English as a second language) needs; language barriers;  any discernible special education needs (SEN).

            - Paper-based assessments (for English phonics & numeracy).


           -  Written test (to check English language ability, ability to write, and motor skills).


            - Online multiple-choice cognitive ability test.


Discuss subject options with students applying (for their GCSE, BTEC, A-Level, or IB choices) and assist in the completion of the subject options form.

Collate and verify the student applicant’s data in our software. The data includes application form data; prior school reports; prior academic certificates and transcripts; documents on personal information; prior EAL, SEN, or therapy reports; the assessment results; and the assessment report with the recommendation on admission.

Assess students in a timely manner so that the admissions team can manage the application inquiries. 

Act as the main point of contact for the admissions and senior leadership teams outlining the recommendation for admission of students based on the assessment results.

Be a team player who is positive, constructive, and professional.  

Manage your time effectively and meet deadlines.

Customer friendly and responsive to a child and parent’s needs and those of the senior leadership and admissions teams. 

Candidates Specifications:


Candidates with a degree in education i.e., Bachelor of Education, PGCE, or a Level 3 qualification with 2 years of teaching experience and familiar with UK, IB; Indian (CBSE, ICSE).

Some knowledge and experience of identifying and working with the needs of different EAL (English as a second language) and SEN (special educational needs) children is preferred but not a must

Attention to detail is a must 

Ability to present documents in an accurate and professional manner 

Ability to organize work activities according to priorities and meet deadlines

Demonstrated experience to work effectively within a team and independently

Ability to provide effective analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills 

Good written and spoken communication skills in English 

Committed to achieving the goals and objectives specified for the team 

Good knowledge of basic computer skills such as Word, Excel, and Outlook

The successful candidate will be provided with a company visa, medical insurance, and flight allowance. The annual holiday entitlement will be 22 working days for this role. There will be no housing benefit provided.
