Newhouse Academy is a comprehensive secondary school, situated just off the M60 in the town of Heywood.  


As part of the Hollingworth Learning Trust, we work closely with our partner school, Hollingworth Academy, (an outstanding local secondary school); and are on a school improvement journey to deliver rising academic standards.  Newhouse Academy has been chosen as one of 50 schools to gain Government funding for building development, which will see many brand new facilities for students and the local community in the near future.  We have a fabulous team of staff, some excellent learning facilities and improving GCSE results across many subjects.  


We are recruiting Academic Mentors to join the dedicated and talented teams within our academy.  This is a temporary contract, which is subject to funding, with effect from 1st September 2022, and for one academic year.  


This role is perfect for recent graduates and those considering a career in teaching or education and the ideal candidate will…


• Provide blocks of tuition for those students who need it most.

• Work with the academy’s Leadership Team and Curriculum Leaders to support individual student needs, develop and deliver engaging sessions and support a range of learning styles.

• Deliver measurable outcomes from each sessions to track progress.

• Have a real desire to help students achieve all that they can.

• Have values in line with the academy’s priorities of Aspiration, Integrity and Respect.

Hours: 37 hours per week

Grade/salary: £19,000 to £21,000 per annum, depending on qualifications.  (For those with a university degree and/or QTS, the Academy may negotiate an enhanced salary)

Contract type: Temporary contract for one academic year

Start date: 1st September 2022
