Academic Support Assistant – Higher Level

Wellington CollegeBracknell Forest

Wellington College is one of the world’s leading co-educational boarding and day schools and has an enviable reputation for excellence and innovation. We are currently looking for an experienced, well-organised and self-motivated individual to join our Academic Support team, as a Higher Level Academic Support Assistant.

Our Academic Support Department tracks, monitors and assesses pupils with Specific Learning difficulties. We also provide a holistic approach to supporting all our pupils with academic and pastoral needs. We have two main strands; - Academic Support for pupils who require guidance with any element of academic work and SEND, for those who have an Individual Education Plan.

Your challenge will be to provide 1-2-1 support for a specific pupil who is joining us in September 2021. This will be in all aspects of their studies involving everything from scribing notes in lessons, using Microsoft One Note, through to providing examination support, as a scribe and practical assistant. Along the way, you will need to liaise with colleagues to prepare and plan material. You will also need to prepare and utilise IT resources to support the pupil’s learning. Attending training on the use of IT software will be mandatory in order to fully support this pupil. We will rely on you to provide consistent and effective support and do all you can to facilitate a positive learning experience.

You will need a high level of literacy and numeracy skills, as we are an academically selective school. You will have excellent attention to detail, proficiency using IT systems and a proven record for meeting targets. A dedicated team-player who strives for excellence and leads by example, you are tactful and discreet, whilst being mindful of observing Safeguarding and professional standards. What’s more, you are enthusiastic, keen to learn new skills and committed to personal continuous professional development. You are also professional in appearance, adaptable and flexible to working hours, which include attending lessons on Saturday mornings.

So, if you have all of the above, and are committed to contributing towards the College community, apply today.

Closing date: 6pm, Sunday 18 April 2021
