Academic Team Leader

StudyLab School in Moscow seeks an Academic Team Leader, to take over the job duties from September 2018. 

StudyLab School is a private School in Moscow, preparing students aged 7-18 for entrance exams at boarding schools and universities abroad. Our students have been accepted to selective educational institutions abroad, such as Repton School, Marlborough College, Peddie School, Malvern College, Princeton University, Oxford University, UCLA, etc. StudyLab School has a team of high-caliber teachers from the UK, the USA and Canada. StudyLab School team employs more than 40 professional teachers who teach a wide range of subjects: from Drama, Science and International Relations to TOEFL, SAT and IELTS exams; from British School project to Pro-Academy courses. Academic Team Leader position summary

The key role of Academic Team Leader is to develop teaching skills of our teachers. The successful candidate must demonstrate expertise in British and American curriculum and have a positive experience of professional guidance of high-caliber teachers. The main area of responsibility of an Academic Team Leader should be focus on the quality of education at School. This career is ideal for professionals who have vast teaching experience and a strong interest in sharing their experience with other teachers. Quality of education has always been the cornerstone of StudyLab School, therefore, the Academic Team Leader is expected to maintain and boost academic standards as well as identify the needs of students, teachers, and staff and offer effective solutions. 

Core functions:

Developing a team of teachers

· Build a team of teachers with strong values and ethos;

· Take part in recruitment; 

· Know strengths and weaknesses of each teacher at School. Build personal development plan for teachers, which will benefit the teacher, students and School;

· Ensure that teachers provide high-quality learning experience and supportive, collaborative work environment for students;

· Provide guidance, leadership, and direction to all the teachers through trainings, staff meetings, observations;

· Set up a universal standard of teaching at School, but preserving unique teaching style of each teacher

Evaluation of student progress

· Monitor the students’ academic progress (1-to-1 and group classes) and feedback to the School staff, teachers and parents;

· Ensure that each student achieves the academic goal

Developing of methodologies and materials

· Develop and assess all the courses taught at School, make recommendations for improvement;

· Ensure that the library of the School is developed (study books, tests, past papers, etc.)

· Guide the teachers in the choice of study materials for classes; 

· Ensure that teachers apply various methodologies for different student needs;

Developing of new programs and courses

· Design new courses and programs at School;

· Develop and assess all the courses taught at School, make recommendations for improvement;

· Work closely with the Head of sales and account managers;

· Participate in StudyLab external projects

The successful candidate

· Team-leader, well-organized, energetic;

· Has strong interpersonal skills;

· Has exemplary communication and management skills;

· Self-motivated and passionate about innovative learning environment 

Requirements

· Higher education from a recognized University;

· Qualifications of PGCE/DELTA/MA;

· 5+ years of experience at a senior leadership role;

· Thorough understanding of American and British curriculum;

· Result-oriented approach;

· Experience of working internationally
