Salary: Grade 4 (points 17 - 22)  Pro-rata of full time equivalent salary £17,772 - £20,138

Actual Salary: approx. £15,218 at point 17

Start: September 2018

Contract: Fixed Term – 1 Year Post (extension subject to continued DP funding) 

Working Hours:  35 hours per week, term time only plus 5 days

St Matthew’s RC High School are looking for an inspiring, motivated and enthusiastic individual, who can form positive relationships with pupils, supporting them to overcome any barriers they have to learning and success. The Achievement and Attainment Coach will work with the Assistant Headteacher responsible for improving the attainment of Disadvantaged Pupils, to coordinate the initiatives put in place through the strategic use DP funding. The successful candidate will be expected to work well on his or her own, using their initiative, as well as communicating effectively with many different stakeholders across our school community. 

Working in partnership with St Patrick’s National Teaching School, we are excited about the journey we have embarked on with them, and are committed to working proactively and dynamically, in order to develop and embed effective and sustainable strategies and policies designed to secure excellent outcomes for all of our young people.

St Matthew’s RC High School is a large 11-16 voluntary aided Catholic comprehensive school in North Manchester with an intake of 240 pupils each year.

We are proud to be a Catholic school and we place at the centre of all we do the Person of Christ and the tradition and teachings of the Church. Our school mission statement can be summed up very neatly in three words ‘Pray, Achieve and Care’ and these simple, but powerful words lie at the heart of all we do as a school community.

The strong, long standing links with partner primary schools and sixth form colleges, allow us to work well in supporting our pupils through key transitional points in their education.

St Matthew’s is a member of the Manchester Catholic Education Partnership (MANCEP) and so has strong curriculum and pastoral links with the other Manchester Catholic High schools and Sixth form colleges. There is a joint training day each year, normally based on curriculum areas. We also have curriculum and pastoral links with a number of schools throughout Greater Manchester.

Our staff, both teaching and non teaching, is extremely professional, hardworking and very supportive of each other. There is a good balance of staff who have worked for many years at the school and others who have joined us more recently. Staff are actively encouraged to maintain a healthy work / life balance. A notable feature of the school is the number of former pupils who are now members of staff.
