Job overview

About the role:  Do you consider yourself to be an efficient and proactive administrator?  Are you seeking a new opportunity to join a nationally-recognised secondary academy, highly successful at what they do?  The Leigh UTC have a fantastic opportunity and are seeking to appoint an Administrative Assistant to join our established team after the Easter Break of 2018.  This is a great time to join us as we open our second site due to recent expansion of our student numbers, just a stone's throw from the well-established UTC.  Our successful candidate will support us in providing a full administrative service within the UTC and provide assistance to students where appropriate.  The working pattern that we offer is ideal for those seeking to keep your school holidays free!

The hours are Monday-Thursday 8.00am-4.30pm and Friday 8.00am-4.00pm (with 1 hour for lunch each day), Term Time + 2 weeks of inset.  Our successful candidate will join us after the Easter break as close to 16th April 2018 as possible.

What are we looking for?  To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have had experience in a similar role.  Our main office is a very busy environment so prioritising and keeping calm under pressure are key, in addition to having the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with staff, parents and students alike.  Most importantly, you will act with professionalism, be a team player and enjoy collaborating and working with your peers, striving to provide the best service you possibly can.

Working with us: Having opened in September 2014 with state-of-the-art facilities initially for Key Stages 4 and 5, The Leigh UTC provides an exciting, innovative, business-led, problem-solving curriculum, enabling students to achieve relevant work-related qualifications and transferable skills for future training or employment. The most unique feature of The Leigh UTC is its business ethos that is emphasised by our students' behaviours and supported by our sponsors.

In September 2017, following the request of the Department for Education due to our continued success, The Leigh UTC marked history by expanding its student intake to incorporate Key Stage 3 – the first UTC in the UK to do this.  Furthermore, being the first UTC to have IB World School Status has enabled us to develop strong links in Germany and Qatar. The overarching mission of the Inspiration Academy is to develop curious, academically-skilled young people who aspire to be principled, compassionate learners.  Our curriculum strives to create students who are self-motivated, competent, willing to take risks and lifelong learners.

Being part of the Leigh Academies Trust:  Being part of a successful multi-academy trust allows the academy to share best practice and collaborate with colleagues from a number of other academies in the local area.  As part of the 'cluster' structure all of our academies are grouped together in key geographical area to enable them to be able to support each other and share resources.  It also offers staff better access to career opportunities as the Trust is committed to developing and promoting from within wherever possible.  We also want the Trust to be an organisation where people can enjoy teaching and become the type of teacher they aspire to be.  For more information on working for the Trust please visit our careers pages.

Diversity at our core:  As a Trust we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals we all bring something unique to the role regardless of age, gender, race, beliefs or disabilities which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise.

The academy is committed to safeguarding children and successful candidates will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check.  Our commitment to safeguarding is underpinned by robust processes and checks which are in place across the Trust.

At The Leigh UTC, we create opportunities for meaningful collaboration for staff, we provide a respectful working environment and we encourage innovation from every member of our team. Our Principal, Governors, teaching and support staff believe wholeheartedly in creating opportunities for lifelong success for our young people and believe that exam success is just one aspect in achieving this. We deliver amazing experiences for students whilst not compromising on outcomes. Our teamwork allows us to be greater than the sum of our parts - join us to achieve more than you thought possible.

Curriculum is king and we do things a little differently to other schools or colleges because we believe the most effective way to educate our students is to make our learning more hands-on. With the International Baccalaureate Middle Years programme (MYP) at KS3, GCSEs at KS4, and A-levels, T-levels and the International Baccalaureate Careers Programme (IBCP) at KS5, our ambitious curriculum offer caters for choice, leading the vast majority of students into STEM-related careers or courses.
