Apprentice Finance Assistant

Stratton Upper School are seeking an eager and enthusiastic candidate for the role of Apprentice Finance Assistant to help us maintain our high standard of financial support to the staff and students within our school.  Covering a range of duties within the finance team you will gain a wealth of knowledge whilst working towards an accredited qualification in accounting. 

This is a fantastic post driven by our determination to maintain our absolute commitment to quality and the nurturing of talent as we move into the new academic year. 

Stratton Upper School is a member of the Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust (CMAT) which, by the start of the new academic year, will be a family of 23 academies (primary, secondary and SEN) providing a first-class education for more than 14,000 young people.  The trust operates in a tight geographical area: 20 miles around Cambridge, Peterborough and the main routes between.

Stratton Upper School has a finance team which provides day to day execution and administration of financial duties including, but not limited to:

• Processing financial transactions and keeping accounting records.

• Supporting the financial operations of the school, such as the cashless catering system and school trips.

• Placing purchase orders and completing all elements of purchase ledger.

• Issuing sales invoices and completing all elements of sales ledger.

• Handling finance related queries.

• Processing student income and student payments and communicating with parents and carers.

• A range of scanning and filing.

Our Finance Assistant Apprentice will join this team and assist the Finance Officer with the school’s financial operations to ensure that all internal and external regulations are adhered to, whilst gaining knowledge and working practices of accounting.  The successful candidate can be assured that they will have the chance to engage in a vast array of activities.
