St Peter’s School, Lympstone, is seeking a part-time Assistant Chef to work 29 hours a week during term-time only, preparing, serving and clearing breakfasts and evening meals for our small boarding house as well as assisting with the School’s main lunch service. 

The hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 07:00-14:30 (with a 30-minute unpaid break each day) plus Mondays and Fridays 15:00-19:00. Some flexibility is required with days and occasional additional hours.

The annual salary is £11,020, including statutory paid holiday entitlement, and will be paid in twelve equal monthly instalments. This is based on an hourly rate of £9.50 for 40 weeks.

Candidates are required to work under the direction of the Hospitality and Catering Manager and alongside the Sous Chef to undertake a range of food preparation and service duties within the School. As part of a team of four Assistant Chefs, the successful candidates will focus on Boarding House catering but will develop knowledge and experience in special dietary requirements and desserts, cakes and breads in order to be able to provide cover.

Catering qualifications and experience are essential, alongside knowledge of both food hygiene and health and safety. Candidates will need to demonstrate high personal standards, a keen attention to detail, an ability to work unsupervised and, ideally, an understanding of the school environment.

About St Peter's Preparatory School

St Peter’s School is an independent preparatory day and weekly boarding school for around 290 girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 13.
