Contract type: Full Time
Salary: Hourly £9.00 - £9.36 / Annually £17,364 - £ 18,065 + Excellent benefits + £1,500 Regional Allowance
Contract term: Permanent

As an Assistant Cook at our brand new Queensmead House School, you’ll be in the kitchen and front of house, preparing and serving a range of tasty, nutritious food. You’ll be working at the heart of our school, serving staff, our young people and visitors. We’ll expect you to follow food hygiene rules and keep health and safety in mind. But the key is to create varied menus that encourage our young people to try new food. You’ll help plan meals, taking into account any specific dietary requirements.

We’re ideally looking for you to have catering experience gained in a professional setting, but if you are a highly competent home cook who copes well with feeding the masses, we’d still like to hear from you. A Basic Food Hygiene & Safety Certificate would be beneficial as would GCSEs or an equivalent qualification in Catering, for example, an NVQ Level 2. However, to be part of our team, the key ingredient is having the right attitude. If you’re hard working, friendly and dependable, you could be the perfect fit.

Queensmead House School is our brand new, co-educational SEN provision in Windsor. The school will be on the same site as the former Queensmead School which has wonderful views of Windsor Castle and offers a truly inspirational environment for our young people. The school will be one of our largest schools with capacity of up to 130 young people between the ages of 5 and 19, 40 of whom will be in the primary provision. The school will include a full size sports hall, MUGA, and specialist classrooms for science, food technology, DT and computing. Pupils will be supported in small class sizes (maximum of 8), by well qualified and experienced staff who are able to offer an extensive range of academic, practical, vocational, sport and leisure activities, to support both a young person’s educational achievements and social and communication skills.

For children with complex, challenging needs, the level of care and education must go above and beyond. That’s what drives us, here at Witherslack Group. Through our aspirational homes, schools and ethos, we’ve achieved the highest possible outcomes. In short, we’re enhancing life opportunities.

Rewards

We know you’re going to do great things as part of our brilliant team. To say thank you, we offer a salary and benefits package that’s among the best in our sector. In return for your hard work, you’ll enjoy a competitive salary, Regional Allowance, full school holidays (including bank holidays), contributory pension (matched up to 5%), Life Insurance based on two times your annual base salary, comprehensive induction and ongoing training, Medicash Health Plan/Employee Assistance, and Cycle to Work Scheme. We’ll also cover the cost of your Enhanced DBS check, which is a compulsory part of our recruitment process.
