The Trustees of the Prospere Learning Trust would like to invite applications to the post of Assistant Curriculum Leader in Humanities, specialising in History, for CHS South.
The Humanities department is a growing team of dedicated teachers who are committed to delivering interesting, varied, challenging and fun lessons to all our students. Currently the team consists of 2 Geography specialists including a Curriculum Leader and an NQT, 1 EPR specialist (Ethics, Philosophy and Religion) and 1 History Specialist. This post is to recruit an exceptional history teacher who can also provide some leadership in the faculty to support the Curriculum Leader as the school continues to grow. We currently have pupils in Year 7, 8 and 9 and will build this year on year until we reach our capacity in 2022.
In Years 7 and 8 History is delivered for one hour a week. In Year 9 pupils begin their pathways subjects and all pupils choose from either History or Geography. In Year 9 pupils study their chosen HUMANITY for 2 hours and their other for 1 hour per week. This will increase in Year 10 as they specialise in their chosen humanity subject. We teach our Key Stage 4 over three years and we teach Edexcel 9-1 GCSE with Medicine through Time, Weimar and Nazi Germany, Superpower Relations in the Cold War, and Anglo-Saxons and Normans. Classes are mixed ability.
We work collaboratively with our sister school Chorlton High School where History has had excellent results due to outstanding teaching and learning for many years. We are committed to innovative teaching and learning practice , extra-curricular provision and educational visits that help develop our young people and their understanding of the world.
This is an opportunity for an exceptional and passionate History teacher to join and help shape a developing team in a growing school. Applicants should be passionate about teaching in an inner-city comprehensive school and providing the very best education for the pupils in our community and family.
