Job overview

Bury Council is moving forwards with pace and purpose and with a new Executive Director for Children and Young People now in post this is an exciting time to join us. As part of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority we are well placed to take advantage of the many opportunities that will present themselves over the coming years. In turn, we need a modern and dynamic education service to ensure that our children and young people have the qualifications, understanding and skills needed to access the jobs of the future.

Of course, much of this relies on us working with our Headteachers and Principals in a different way, enabling schools and academies to develop effective ‘school to school’ support and strong partnerships in order to address issues around falling standards, particularly in the secondary sector. In terms of the SEND agenda, we have been successful in reducing permanent exclusions and need to build on this progress to ensure that schools in Bury can be inclusive for all children. We are now looking for an Assistant Director for Education and Inclusion who understands the new education landscape and can bring about real change in Bury, thereby developing – in partnership – a strong school-led performance and improvement system.

Candidates will need to have substantial leadership experience in an education setting, the ability to forge strong relationships, change management skills, and a determination to improve outcomes for all of our children and young people.

For more information please see: www.buryleadership.com or talk to our advising consultants Luke Judd (0113 205 6077) or Rachel Cox (0113 205 6068).

Closing date: 13 June 2019

Final interviews: 25 and 26 June 2019
