Smestow School is a vibrant, successful and happy school in Castlecroft, Wolverhampton. We have high expectations and are very ambitious for our staff and students and we are currently seeking to appoint a like-minded person to the position of Assistant Head of  Maths, taking the lead across Key Stage 3. We are in the prestigious position of belonging to the University of Wolverhampton Multi Academy Trust and therefore have strong links with the University which brings fantastic opportunities for staff and students.

Our school has recently appointed new leadership and has begun its journey to become outstanding. Summary of Role:

• To be a driven, ambitious and highly effective leader within the Maths Department and school

To fulfil the Professional Standards for Teacher, by teaching Maths across KS3 and 4, with the opportunity for KS5 teaching as appropriate.

• To monitor and support the overall progress and development of students as a teacher and as a Form Tutor including the personal development dimension

• To facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential, including creating an excellent climate for learning.

From January 2023 Smestow Academy joined Matrix Academy Trust and embarked upon an exciting journey of rapid school improvement as experience by other schools who have previously joined the Trust.

The school is a mixed 11-18 comprehensive situated in a pleasant residential area next to attractive countryside. There are approximately 670 pupils on roll with a Sixth form provision.
