Working at St. Mary’s is an extraordinary opportunity. Our Surveys this year showed that 96% of staff enjoy their work at St Marys, 97% agree that leaders do all they can to ensure a motivated and respected staff, 100% of students enjoy their learning and believe that behaviour around the school is good, and 97% of parents would recommend St. Mary’s to other parents. We are passionately committed to developing staff and managing workload to ensure that colleagues enjoy their work and recognise St. Mary’s as an almost-uniquely positive place to teach and enjoy their careers.
The school is also at an extremely exciting juncture in its future. Demand is high, and owing to intense oversubscription, we are 3 years through expansion to 6FE. We have also won over £5.3m in capital bids in the last 3 years and are enjoying brand new cutting edge facilities as a result – with completely new ‘state-of-the-art’ laboratories. The school faces an extremely strong and positive financial future.
Our previous OFSTED inspection judged us as Outstanding in every category, and our most recent S48 Inspection (2018) also judged us as Outstanding in every area. Over the last 4 years, exam results have risen at both GCSE & A Level. The ‘Progress 8’ score for 2018 was +0.61, which puts the school in the top 10% in the country. At A Level the proportion of A*-B Grades as well as students enrolling at elite Russell Group Universities has risen significantly over each of the last 4 years with 2018 breaking all school records.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. St Mary’s is committed to the equality of opportunity for all applicants, and we reserve the right to interview on a rolling basis, therefore an early application is advisable. Application forms are online, and for further information please contact St Mary’s Catholic School on tel: 01279-654901 or email the Deputy Headteacher at T.Johnston@stmarys.net or the Head’s PA at HeadsPA@stmarys.net
