We have a fantastic opportunity for an innovative and inspiring Assistant Headteacher to join our team at Kestrel House. We are an independent day school providing specialist education for children aged 5 to 16 years who hold Statements of Special Education Needs for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) and associated social and communication difficulties.

You will assist the Headteacher in leading and managing the school, as well as a nurturing and therapeutic environment to meet a range of needs Your school will be outstanding and a leading light for our young people and their families.

About the Role

We are looking for a dynamic, passionate and committed Assistant Headteacher to join our new school Senior Leadership Team and support the teaching of our the pupils. The Assistant Headteacher will focus on the positive outcomes of our children and take responsibility for helping improve the lives of our young people.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with young people with a range of complex learning needs. You will be able to demonstrate a working understanding of how these needs impact upon learning and behaviour in the classroom. You may have specialist knowledge and experience of working with autistic spectrum disorder or children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Or you may have experience of working across both specialisms. 

As Assistant Headteacher you will initially have a mixture of management and teaching responsibilities with a focus on achieving positive outcomes for young people. You will be expected to contribute to the organisation, management and supervision of school routines and curriculum. It is important to consider that the individual pupil’s learning and effective progression of achievement are provided through the development of the curriculum and policies of the school.
