Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and inspirational leader to join Castle Hall Academy as Assistant Headteacher.

Castle Hall Academy in Mirfield, West Yorkshire became part of the Impact Education Multi-Academy Trust in September 2018 and the successful applicant will be joining at a new and exciting phase of the improvement journey for the Academy.

The Academy:

Despite challenging times in recent years, Castle Hall Academy has been at the heart of the community delivering excellence in education standards for over 100 years. Our vision for Castle Hall Academy to be a place where ‘Hearts and Minds Connect’ is about ensuring that we have an ethos which develops a love of learning. Our pupils are encouraged to develop themselves as fully rounded, emotionally intelligent individuals.  We have high expectations academically, but we also place a great emphasis on positive attitudes to learning and building effective relationships with others.

This is an exciting time to join the Trust as we look forward to our new Headteacher, Paul Brook, joining us in January.  Paul is a visionary leader who shares the values of our Trust.  He is passionate about driving our mission to improve life chances for young people forward, by delivering a world class education.  Paul is determined to ensure that all students and staff receive the support and care they need to become successful.  This is a great opportunity to work with a leader who is committed to educational excellence and supporting his team to achieve their career goals.

Impact Education Multi Academy Trust:

The Trust’s mission is very clear and aligned to the values which underpin Castle Hall Academy’s historic success; we are on a mission to improve social mobility for the disadvantaged and the life chances of children and young people.

The Trust, led by CEO Mick Kay, was founded by the Trustees of The Halifax Academy, a high performing all-through school in Calderdale.  The Trust will grow with care and its anticipated that there will four academies in the Trust by January 2019.

The Trust believes that collaborative leadership and strong partnership development can lead to significant positive impact on the quality of education. We believe that this can happen without schools losing their own identity. Our people are highly valued and encouraged to take advantage of the wealth of developmental opportunities across the Trust.

We are looking for a leader who is:

  • committed to our values and ensuring our young people reach their full potential
  • an inspirational leader with excellent interpersonal skills who can create a vision and take people with them
  • committed to ensuring students and staff maximise every opportunity to achieve academically and personally
  • a strategic thinker who can contribute to the wider school improvement agenda

We offer:

  • the opportunity to work as part of a creative and supportive team, who are determined and driven on our mission to achieve the very best for our students.
  • confident, happy and motivated students who are eager to learn
    effective, supportive and dynamic leadership
  • an opportunity for you to shape educational excellence at the academy
a highly reflective organisation which takes professional learning very seriously. We invest in our people.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. This post is subject to enhanced disclosure.

Visits to the academy are encouraged and warmly welcomed. Please call Joanne Anderson on 01924 520500 to arrange. For further information please visit our website.

Completed applications can be posted to the academy or emailed to janderson@castlehall.com 9:00am on Wednesday 28th November.  Late applications and CV’s will not be accepted.

Castle Hall Academy is a welcoming, successful and ambitious school, where students gain a high quality, personalised learning experience, delivered by talented and valued staff. We value our parents and families and make every effort to include them in the full life of the academy.

Our exceptional classroom culture is key to delivering academic excellence; we have high expectations of our students and our teachers and strive to become better every day, developing character and raising aspirations.

Developing our staff is important to us; this means challenging and supporting teachers, leaders and support staff to be the best they can be, to ensure the greatest possible impact on the lives of all our students, their families and the wider community.

In March 2023, Ofsted inspectors reported that our staff value the support, training and guidance they receive and share leaders’ vision for absolute excellence. They also reported that “leaders’ high aspirations for excellence are increasingly being realised as they continue to improve what pupils experience.”

Castle Hall Academy joined Impact Education Multi Academy Trust in 2018, meaning that students and staff benefit from collaboration between schools within the trust, sharing resources, knowledge and best practice.
