About Meadowhead School Academy Trust

Meadowhead School Academy is a popular and successful school with an excellent academic and pastoral reputation and very high standards of behaviour.

We have high expectations of ourselves and our students and welcome colleagues who share our commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Meadowhead School moved into new purpose built accommodation in 2007.  We became a Trust school in 2009, setting up the Meadowhead Community Learning Trust (MCLT) in partnership with six feeder primary schools, Sheffield College, Sheffield University, Sheffield Hallam University and a number of local and national businesses.  In August 2012, the school became a converter Academy, and gained full Sixth Form status in September 2013.
  • We house our own Sixth Form currently teaching A level courses and level 3 courses to over 292 students.  We opened our new purpose built Sixth Form Centre in November 2017.

Values and vision

At Meadowhead our vision is to make a difference to the lives of our young people. Through excellence and continual improvement, we aim to be the best we can possibly be for our current and future students. We are determined that all our students achieve their full potential and leave us as confident, compassionate and articulate individuals to grow and prosper in the 21st century.

We work in partnership with others to equip students with the skills, attitudes and qualifications needed to lead fulfilling lives and to become responsible adults. Through a skilfully planned curriculum, enrichment experiences, high standards in teaching and pastoral care we fully prepare our students for entrance to further and higher education, high quality employment and the future careers of their choice.

Our ambition is to develop and nurture young people to become well rounded individuals with the characteristics to contribute fully to society with a strong sense of civic responsibility. We want to ensure that our students are equipped with the knowledge, understanding and skills to influence change and to improve their own lives, their local community and the planet. We aim to inspire young people to live sustainable lives and develop the green skills to tackle both the causes and the impact of climate change resulting in better futures for all.

The House System

When students start at Meadowhead, they and the rest of their form group are allocated a house: Sharman, Pearson, Douglass and Brearley. Each of the houses are named after inspirational figures who have made a difference in their chosen field or discipline. Students compete as houses in events like Sports Day and for the annual Rewards Cup. The names of each figurehead was chosen during the 2021-22 academic year during a public consultation with students, staff, local residents and alumni. As students transition into the Sixth Form, students keep their house as they move to their new specialist form.

Continuing Professional Development

We have a strong programme of CPD for all staff.

Staff benefits now include enrolment onto the enhanced package for Smartclinic which provides occupational health and well-being support for all employees.
