Believe Achieve Succeed

Cavendish Close Junior Academy is poised to embark on the next stage of its development, having joined The Harmony Trust at the beginning of this academic year. Following this exciting development, we are now looking for a motivated, passionate and committed practitioner to join us as Assistant Principal from January 2018.

Cavendish Close is a large junior school with 330 pupils on roll, located just outside of Derby in the suburb of Chaddesden. Having moved into a new building in Spring 2016, we have access to great facilities and extensive grounds. We are excited to be the sixth school to join The Harmony Trust and are collectively confident about the future.

It’s a great time to join the team as Assistant Principal, especially at such a crucial point in our history. We are looking for someone who will be able to immediately make a positive contribution to the growth of our academy in the coming months and years, as we accelerate our improvement journey.

Our new Assistant Principal will be an exceptionally talented teaching professional, with an unwavering commitment to providing the best educational and life chances for children. You will join us wholeheartedly in our efforts to raise aspirations and attainment for our pupils and will be able to motivate others in the staff team in the same way. With the opportunity to work alongside an inspirational National Leader of Education, the role offers fantastic development opportunities - particularly for those individuals thinking about headship in the future.

If you are a talented practitioner, looking for a new challenge, we would love to hear from you. To find out more, visit www.joinHarmony.co.uk, or call our recruitment team on 01904 567818, for an informal and confidential discussion.

Closing date: 10am, Friday 13 October 2017.

Final Panel: Thursday 19 October 2017.

Cavendish Close Junior Academy is committed to safeguarding and all posts are subject to an enhanced DBS check. Proof of eligibility to work in the UK will be required if you are invited to interview.

Cavendish Close Junior Academy is a large school in Chaddesden, a suburb of Derby.  The school is popular and currently draws its pupils from a very varied catchment area.

Our ethos: to encourage children to develop to their full potential and succeed as individuals, and to reward them for their effort, achievement and good behaviour. We provide equality of opportunity and promote high standards in all aspects of school life.

Our values: we have always promoted values which are included in what  are now described as 'British Values', i.e. democracy; the rule of law; individual liberty; mutual respect; and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.

Our vision: we want our pupils to be Curious Confident Children.

Last year was a very exciting year for the school. We moved into our new building ready to start the Spring Term 2016. The school now looks fantastic with beautiful displays in classrooms and in the corridors.

The school occupies extensive grounds with a playing field, sports field and two playgrounds. We have a large hall which can accommodate the whole school for  collective worship and which is also used as a dining room, for physical activities, and to accommodate our many after-school clubs. We also have a studio, which can be used for dance/drama, an ICT suite and a nurture room.
