You will be joining St Edmund’s Catholic Academy at an exciting time as we are part of the St Francis and St Clare’s Catholic Multi-Academy Company, launched in September 2019. In November 2019, OFSTED rated our academy as a Good school with an excellent sixth form. The report describes the behaviour of pupils as 'exemplary', while 'teachers love working at the school'.

Our mission is to nurture the gifts and talents of every student and every member of staff and, as such, is a very supportive, special place to work.

We are seeking a well-qualified, enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Principal: Director of Science to drive forward standards and achievement in Science. This is a dynamic and thriving Faculty within the Academy. Lessons are taught within an excellent suite of purpose-built teaching spaces and laboratories.

This post is suitable for more exceptional applicants seeking an opportunity to develop their career and raise the profile of Science at St Edmund’s, driving forward achievement for 21st-century learners. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to teach Science from KS3 to KS5.

The successful candidate will have strong leadership across Science with strong interpersonal skills. Accreditation of AST/NPQML status or similar would be an advantage. You will receive a comprehensive induction and professional development package.

Prospective candidates are welcome to talk to Mrs Letheren, Vice Principal, about this post and are most welcome to visit the academy in advance.

Application packs can be accessed via our Academy website www.stedmunds.org or please telephone the St Francis and St Clare Catholic MAC recruitment line (01902 558709). Cutter, HR Officer, at the company head office (c/o Our Lady and St Chad Catholic Academy, Old Fallings Lane, Wolverhampton WV10 8BL) or via email to recruitment@sfscmac.co.uk .

Values and Vision

As a committed Catholic school, St Edmund’s Catholic Academy places a huge amount of importance on faith and the teaching of the Catholic Church. The school motto is “To Love and Serve the Lord”, and the school expresses this through consistent and numerous acts of charity and religious retreats. In addition to this, the school’s students are given regular opportunities to attend mass at local churches in Wolverhampton. The school still maintains its focus on academic exploits, however, with a strong and engaging curriculum available to students, and a sixth form working with other local schools to offer a range of academic and vocational subjects.

Ofsted

“Teaching supports students’ good spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. For example, in religious education lessons, students reflected thoughtfully on problems of evil and suffering and on the moral messages in Psalms. In geography, they developed a good understanding of people’s different reactions to recent natural disasters.”
