We are looking for an exceptional experienced qualified teacher to lead on SEND in our academy as Assistant Principal: Inclusion.

Your opportunity

This is an exciting position for a qualified teacher looking to lead on inclusion within a vibrant academy setting. Your role will include:

  • Ensuring that Academy practice is compliant with the SEND Code of Practice (2014) and other relevant statutory requirements.
  • Working  with the Academy Leadership team ensuring an ethos of Inclusion within the Academy and a culture of high aspirations for students with SEND.
  • Ensuring that the provision of SEND support is in accordance with the aims of the Academy and the curricular policies determined by the Governing Body and Principal of the Academy
  • Embedding Quality First Teaching across the Academy.
  • Taking responsibility for the Academy SEND Offer, ensuring high quality targeted interventions enabling students with SEND to make rapid progress.
  • Taking responsibility for tracking the progress of students with SEND, using a wide range of Academy data relating to progress, attainment, referrals, exclusions, detentions and attendance to identify barriers to learning.

What we are looking for

We look for talented individuals who want to be a part of transforming education in London, and helping create exceptional places of learning. The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS (or equivalent) and a good undergraduate degree
  • Show evidence of Continuing Professional Development relevant to the SENCO role or willingness to undertake this training
  • Have at least three years' teaching experience, and at least two years' experience of working with children with special educational needs

Harris Garrard Academy is a new school with drive and ambition. Located in the wider South Thamesmead area, we cater to a vastly vibrant 3-19 aged student community. Accessible by fantastic rail and bus transport links, the academy’s stunning working environment is within a purpose-built school designed by Norman Foster and nominated for the Stirling Prize for architecture in 2004.
