About the role

​​​​​​​The primary role of the Assistant SENDCo is supporting the day-to-day operational work of the SENDCo to ensure that children with special educational needs and disabilities within the academy receive the support they need to be successful. The Assistant SENDCo should have high expectations for learners with SEND and not allow labels to become an excuse or barrier to success. They understand and support that ‘every teacher is a teacher of SEND’. They will share the academy values and culture, consistently applying knowledge and skills through our behaviour and teaching and learning policies, but where needed make reasonable adjustments and provide support that is additional to and different from.​​​​​​​
