• Do you have the highest expectations and aspirations for every child and young person to be “the best they can be”?

• Are you a passionate and dedicated teacher, with an excellent track record as a co-ordinator of provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities?

• Are you looking for a creative and diverse role within a dynamic team?

• Are you excited by all of the opportunities, challenges and rewards of working with children and young people with complex Special Educational Needs?

Then The Kenwood Centre may be exactly what you are looking for…

The Kenwood Centre is part of Becton School and Nexus Multi-Academy Trust, based in the Nether Edge area of Sheffield. We are currently expanding our provision, so we need a part time Assistant SENDCO to join our growing team. Every day we make a huge difference to the lives of the children and young people in our community, all of whom have EHCPs, with a diagnosis or traits of Autism and other related Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Becton School is a unique, complex, caring and wonderful place. We are proud of our great reputation with children and families, other professionals, other agencies and Sheffield Local Authority. Our shared vision for Nexus Multi-Academy Trust is that we are constantly "Learning together, to be the best we can be". This vision is what we aspire for and is as relatable to every employee and partner of our Trust as it is to our children, young adults and their families. We are fully committed to partnerships and all of the educational benefits of collaborative working. You can find out more at: www.nexusmat.org

The students at The Kenwood Centre have often missed a large part of their education for a variety of reasons. Although we know we cannot change their past experiences, we can work together to transform their futures. The students are at the heart of everything we do and we strongly believe it is our responsibility to provide a place where everyone feels welcome, safe, secure and highly valued. We are also proud to work in close partnership with parents and carers to ensure our children and young people develop skills for life. We are here to ensure that every single student has the best opportunities to flourish through personalised learning.

We are currently working to further broaden and deepen our curriculum offer, and we are looking for a passionate and inspirational specialist teacher to support our SENDCO and to help us develop our provision. The role is likely to include these key responsibilities:

• Quality assuring and evaluating aspects of our personalised provision to meet students’ needs, including our early reading provision, our nurture provision and our use of external Alternative Provision

• Reporting to the SENDCO and other Leaders and Governors and Trustees, including through formal EHCP Annual Review processes

• Leading and coordinating staff training

• Leading and coordinating our approach to access arrangements for public examinations

• Line managing associate staff

We are seeking an individual with strong child-centred values, resilience and a proven ability to deliver exceptional learning experiences for all our students.

The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly (and travel) across multiple sites. It would also be advantageous if they could also work from home (online) when required to do so.

Applications are welcome from candidates in all educational settings (including in mainstream settings) and who can demonstrate knowledge of special educational needs and disabilities.

Candidates are strongly encouraged to visit The Kenwood Centre to find out more information. For an informal conversation about the vacancy or to arrange a visit please contact Richard Hadfield, Head of School, on 0114 255 7679 or email kenwood@nexusmat.org

Application forms can be downloaded from the vacancies section of our website: www.becton.sheffield.sch.uk

Completed application forms must be emailed to Julie Ramsden at kenwood@nexusmat.org by 11pm on Sunday 10th July 2022.

CVs will not be accepted.

Nexus Multi-Academy Trust and Becton School are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Appointments will be subject to an enhanced DBS Disclosure. We are an equal opportunities employer: we are committed to promoting diversity and we want a workforce which reflects our local communities.
