Assistant Subject Lead - Science

King's Academy BinfieldBracknell Forest

A fabulous opportunity is awaiting you; the chance to support the design and shape of innovative and creative pedagogical practice in a new all-through academy as our Assistant Subject Leader in Science.

King’s Academy Binfield (KAB) and King’s Academy Oakwood (KAO) are looking to appoint a highly motivated, dynamic and innovative Assistant Subject Leader: Science  with an excellent track record, to play an intrinsic role in our new all-through academy in Bracknell Forest.

KAB opened in a superb building in September 2018 with 120 Year 7 students. In September 2019 a further 150 Year 7 students, along with year R and nursery students joined the academy. Also in September 2019, KAO, a brand new 1 FE primary school a mile away, opened with Year R and a mixed (for this year only) Year 1/2. KAB and KAO will continue to grow year on year to a roll of over 1800 students, aged 3-18. Both academies are run cohesively sharing the same leadership, staff, values, curriculum, opportunities and expectations of excellence.

We are looking to recruit a passionate and knowledgeable assistant subject lead to join our science department (any specialism). The successful candidate will initially oversee our growing Key Stage 3 with scope for overseeing other areas of the department as we and the school grow.

The principle focus of the Science curriculum at King’s Academy Binfield is to deepen and develop students' understanding, building upon what they have learned in KS2, giving a strong grasp of the fundamentals across biology, chemistry and physics. We provide students with the tools and understanding that not only prepare them for the next level of their education, but also for evaluating and making sense of the changing world around them.

We are looking for someone who aligns with our ethos and can help our growing department continue to grow from strength to strength giving the successful candidate the opportunity to grow and develop professionally.

Applicants should be excellent classroom teachers and have the ability to motivate, inspire and lead staff and students to excel.  The successful candidate will show great leadership potential, will be a team player, will get stuck in and involve themselves in the wider aspects of academy life. A genuine commitment to our ‘whatever it takes’ ethos is essential to enable every young person at KAB and KAO to thrive.

As a rapidly growing school, this is a rare and exciting opportunity for a skilful leader who can bring creativity, innovation and dynamism across the academies. Potential is just as important as experience.

KAB and KAO are part of the King’s Group Academies MAT, led by a team of former and current Ofsted ‘outstanding’ head teachers and Her Majesty’s Inspectors (HMI).

King’s Education separately operates British schools abroad, educating over 4,000 students in countries such as Spain, Latvia and Panama, offering exciting opportunities for genuine international collaboration.
