THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

Post-holder description of general responsibilities

The Brass peripatetic teacher / music teacher is responsible for the following areas of the College's Music programme:

-    Instrumental Tuition Programme classes (brass – trumpet/horn/baritone/trombone/tuba)

-    Junior School Band Programme (Year 5 and Year 6), for the right candidate

Post-holder description of specific responsibilities

1)    Support and actively promote DCI's stated Vision and Purpose.

2)    Plan and co-deliver the Junior School Band Programme.

3)    Plan, resource and deliver assigned classroom Music lessons for identified classes.

4)    Provide 1-1 lessons for students as part of the College's Instrumental Tuition Programme.

5)    Monitor, assess and report student progress in accordance with the school's assessment and reporting policy and practices.

6)    Contribute to the College's co-curricular programme, leading Junior School instrumental CCAs as assigned.

7)    Support Junior School Music trips and events as appropriate.

8)    Attend scheduled meetings as applicable.

9)    Keep up to date with national developments and research in teaching and pedagogy, briefing colleagues as appropriate.

10)    Recruit new students to the Instrumental Tuition Programme through demonstrations and performances in and out of school.

11)    Contribute to upholding the school's corporate identity in all publications, internal literature, letters, and external performances.

12)    Ensure that professional behaviours at all times enhance the positive reputation of the DCI group and the College, particularly mindful of our international context.

13)    Carry out any other duty as may reasonably be required by the Head of Junior School or the Head of Junior School Music.

14)    Comply with all College, School, departmental and DCI group policies.

About Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong - DCS

School Heritage

Welcome to Dulwich College Shanghai Pudong.

Our school is located within the leafy, vibrant Jinqiao area of East Shanghai with a thriving and diverse community. The first school in the Dulwich College International family of schools, we opened in 2003 with just 23 students. The College now educates approximately 1600 students from age 2 to age 18, with over forty different nationalities represented in our diverse student body.

Whilst have built a strong reputation for academic excellence, with our students achieving IB results well above the global average year on year, this is not at the expense of student wellbeing. Our school has a pastoral support team for students at all levels, and all of them follow a Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) course appropriate to their age and coordinated across the year groups. The relationships they form with their peers and with their teachers are critical for their education and for creating a safe learning environment for their growth.
