West House School, a thriving boys Preparatory School in the heart of Edgbaston, seeks an experienced, self-starting and pragmatic Bursar with a detailed understanding of finance and accounting, preferably with experience of working in a school environment. The ability to think strategically and engage at the most senior levels in an academic environment, yet act operationally, is essential. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a broad and varied role taking over from the current Bursar who is retiring after many years at the school.

The Bursar is responsible for a wide range of key operational areas, including finance, facilities, HR and compliance.  In addition, the Bursar is the Company Secretary and Secretary to the Board of Governors. The Bursar reports to the Headmaster for day-to-day running of the school and to the Governors on matters of finance and governance. Type of position: Permanent, full time. West House operates an extended holiday contract with 8 weeks of holiday to be taken in school holidays. 

Holidays: 40 days holiday a year (200 hours) and 8 bank holidays. 20 days holiday to be taken during school shutdown and 20 outside term time.
