Job overview

Bursar

Notting Hill Prep is a thriving independent co-ed prep school based in the heart of the local community. The school currently has 360 pupils and is in the midst of an exciting period of new development which will enable it to expand to 450 pupils over the next 5 years and will include the integration of a further new building into the school’s current premises.

NHP, officially accredited as a “Thinking School”, is vibrant and charismatic.  Its success is founded on academic rigour, balanced by an innovative, cutting-edge pedagogy.  We teach children not merely to learn, but to learn how to learn.  The school has a strong ethos with a staff of highly committed and passionate teachers and is a friendly and collaborative place to work.

The Governors and Headmistress are now seeking to appoint an enthusiastic individual with a strong financial and commercial background to join the school's Senior Management Team as the next Bursar from January 2018.  This is a key role as the new Bursar will be responsible for the strategic, business and operational management of the school, including finance, property, HR, legal, health and safety and compliance and, in particular, will be required to lead the school through its final stage of expansion. The Bursar is also Clerk to the Governors.

The successful applicant should have suitable financial qualifications, together with strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills and the capacity to oversee a wide range of activities. Previous experience as a school Bursar would be of benefit but is not essential.
