Job overview

St Aubyn’s School is one of the oldest and most established preparatory schools in the country. We are a co-educational independent school for 525 children aged 3 to 13 situated close to the beautiful surroundings of Epping Forest and easily accessible from London. We strive for excellence and creativity in education and are committed to the academic and all-round development of every child in the School.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our School to appoint an outstanding and experienced individual to join the dynamic senior management team as Bursar.

The Bursar will be expected to support the Headmaster in all aspects of school life; line managing the support functions of the School, delivering outstanding customer service to current and prospective parents, supporting teachers in their delivery of first rate education and ensuring a warm and safe environment for pupils. Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Catering, Buildings and Estate Management, Transport, Health, Safety and Security, and the role of Clerk to the Governors, are all part of this wide and interesting remit.

The successful candidate will need to be a strong communicator and proven manager of people and should expect to be highly visible throughout all areas of the School. They will have financial and commercial acumen, excellent staff management and project management skills, and an ability to oversee a number of tasks concurrently.

Candidates will have a genuine passion for education but prior experience of working in a School is not a prerequisite, and applications are invited from a range of backgrounds.

The successful applicant will join a friendly, enthusiastic, hard-working team, who consistently strive to raise standards.

Benefits include reduced school fees, free car parking and lunches. Accommodation may be available at a competitive rate for the right applicant.
