The Mount School York is a thriving boarding and day community set in 16 acres of beautiful grounds located ten minutes’ walk from York’s historic city centre. The Mount is a school for girls aged 2 to 18 and boys aged 2 to 11.
We are currently seeking to recruit a Caretaker/Driver to Driver to join an experienced facilities management team. Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Caretaker/Driver will have responsibility for security, health and safety monitoring, porterage and general caretaking duties. Skills in a particular trade would be an advantage.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of caretaking, preferably within a school environment. A valid, full UK driving licence is an essential requirement, with D1 entitlement (or PCV endorsement) and held for at least two years, as the role includes driving a 17-seat minibus every morning and afternoon.
Working hours will vary but will usually be Monday to Friday, totalling 37.5 hours per week. The Caretaker/Driver will need to work flexibly to meet the needs of the School and must be willing to work split shifts during school term-time, occasional evenings and weekends and to be on call as part of the keyholders’ rota.
It is essential that the Caretaker/Driver lives very locally to the School. If required, on-site accommodation can be provided in a self-contained 2-bed flat for which an adjustment in salary will be made.
The Mount School York is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.
