Job overview

We are currently seeking to appoint a Chaplain who will lead the spiritual life at Bryanston and be a caring pastor at the heart of our community. Building upon the successes of the current long-serving post holder, whose contribution to Bryanston has been immeasurable, the successful candidate will work closely with the Head (and will also liaise closely with the pastoral team) to offer pupils a regular experience of genuine, committed Christian worship, in which all are free to join.

To be Chaplain at Bryanston is to have the opportunity to pursue a vocation to a community of over 1200. Christian inspiration and Christian ideals are fundamental to the Bryanston philosophy, the school also recognises that pupils may come from homes which follow other faiths or have no strong religious affiliation.

Bryanston is fortunate to have a beautiful setting for the Chaplaincy in St Martin’s Church, which is the focus for the school’s worshipping community and services. We also have a Chapel in the main building, which is a place of warmth and peace, regularly used by pupils for private prayer or simply as a place in which to be quiet, and which also hosts informal Eucharists, study groups and prayers.

We are seeking to appoint an ordained minister of Anglican Communion, likely to have at least 3 years of fruitful, active ministry. The successful candidate is likely to have experience of teaching in a school or a similar environment and the ability to teach RS would be an advantage for this position.

Bryanston offers a very competitive remuneration package, including attractive, family-sized accommodation, in a fantastic working environment.
