Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an efficient and motivated Chemistry Technician to join our innovative and dynamic science faculty. You will be enthusiastic, well qualified and have the ability to support the Chemistry Department throughout the school to A Level and IB Level standard.

The role involves supporting the safe delivery of experiments and practical activities within chemistry lessons in order to optimise teaching and learning. Teamwork and support for the department is a key part of this role, as you will be part of a team of science technicians.

Academic or industrial laboratory experience is essential and detailed knowledge of school level chemistry would be an advantage. The successful candidate will have good interpersonal and manual handling skills and the desire to engage directly with young people to support their learning. The post holder should also be qualified to NVQ Level 2 or above in a relevant science technician qualification, or further higher qualification in Chemistry or a closely related subject.

Chemistry is a popular choice with strong recruitment to courses in the Sixth Form. Examination results are excellent and we offer a wide range of co-curricular activities to support our classroom teaching.

About Royal High School Bath Senior School

Royal High School Bath was formed in 1998 with the successful merger of two very fine independent girls’ schools, both with histories going back to the middle of the 19th Century. It enjoys wonderful facilities for learning and recreation and our students achieve outstanding results at all levels.  Our staffroom has a warm and collegial atmosphere and our membership of the GDST provides an exciting professional network for all staff.

We are the GDST’s only boarding school.  We offer both day and boarding places from Year 5-13 and our boarders are extremely well integrated with the day community and have a strong profile within the school.

Our Sixth Form offers both IB and A Levels and works with an increasingly international cohort of students.

Royal High School Bath is proud of the warmth which is evident in the relationships between the girls and the staff. Indeed, the promotion of the value of respect for others is at the heart of everything we do.
