Job overview

The mission of the King Edward’s Foundation is simple: to make Birmingham the best place to be educated in the UK. Within its organisation there are currently eleven schools educating over 10,000 students: two independent schools and six grammar school academies that are amongst the best in the country and three non-selective comprehensive academies, all of whom have added a different dimension to the Foundation and serve their local communities. Each contribute to excellence in education and, as a group, offer opportunities to the diversity of Birmingham’s communities.

The Board of Trustees of the Foundation now seek to appoint a Chief Executive who will take forward and develop the outstanding work of the outgoing Executive Director, Heath Monk. This is an exciting time to join the charity. Much has been achieved but the Foundation’s expansion is unfinished and its ambition to make Birmingham the best place to be educated is a work-in-progress.

This is a unique opportunity in education: a chance for a highly talented leader to make a landmark contribution to the educational life of the city of Birmingham and of our country. The successful candidate must have extensive knowledge and sound experience of education combined with an ability to convey and develop the Foundation’s strategic vision with clarity and conviction. A highly effective ambassador for the work of the Foundation, our CEO will demonstrate leadership qualities which will support the further professionalisation and modernisation of the services and expertise offered by the Foundation Office.
