Job overview

Exciting current challenge and scope for an enterprising future

This new senior role is emerging with the natural expansion of this successful 4-school multi-academy (MAT) trust in South London. This project management role is ideal for an experienced operations professional capable of taking over and developing a variety of support services to provide the best environment conducive to learning. Our COO will be the senior leader responsible for Estates Management including Health and Safety, IT provision and Catering Services in Folio schools in the South Croydon and Wallington areas. It offers scope for growth in all areas with the continued expansion of the trust.

The MAT comprises an established, outstanding boys’ grammar with mixed sixth form, a primary school, a junior school and a brand new secondary phase, comprehensive free school: the last opened in 2018 and for which the building of a state-of-the-art £35M building project will be underway shortly. Additionally, two of the other schools have major refurbishments ongoing or planned, so sound project management experience would be an advantage, coupled with strong organisational skills, excellent time management and a collaborative communicator able to handle a wide variety of people. Responsible to the CEO and the Board, and working alongside the CFO, this role would suit an experienced business professional with outstanding leadership skills, a track record of transformational success at senior level and an enterprising approach to business development, strategy and partnerships.

Folio has a good reputation for career development and internal succession planning so this unusual vacancy has arisen through the rapid expansion and ongoing growth associated with the new free school. There is the opportunity to carve out and shape how this role develops to best serve the demand for operational services within the Trust. In the future there is potential to expand and promote the shared services beyond the Folio schools, offering scope for marketing and innovation.
