St Anthony’s Catholic Kindergarten, North Rockhampton – invites applications from qualified early childhood educators to assist in this Queensland Approved Kindergarten Centre.

St Anthony’s Catholic Kindergarten received the outstanding result of ‘Exceeding the National Quality Standard’ in its recent Assessment and Rating.  St Anthony’s Catholic Kindergarten is a charity-based centre with the capacity to cater for 44 children per day.  Our Kindergarten features:

  • Two qualified Early Childhood Teachers
  • An art studio (called an ‘atelier’) where children can engage in artistic expression
  • Learning experiences following principles from STEAM – Early years Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts and Mathematics
  • Early Learning Languages Australia (ELLA) program - our focus language is Japanese
  • Participating with the St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School in liturgy and events
  • Regular prep visits and joint activities to assist with transition from kindy to school
  • Nature play in our mud kitchen and gardening in the veggie patch.
  • Keeping families up-to-date through our online communication application – ‘Storypark’

About the role

This is a Term-Time contract position (19HPW) commencing from 18 January 2021 until 16 January 2022 and reports directly to the Kindergarten Director or person appointed to be responsible for the centre. Other key relationships include children, families and the Early Learning & Care Team.

A minimum Diploma in Children’s Services or equivalent is preferred.  Certificate III in Children’s Services or equivalent (ACECQA approved qualifications: https://www.acecqa.gov.au/qualification-requirements) will also be considered.  A working with Children Check and eligibility for a Suitability Notice will also be required. It will be necessary for the successful applicant to obtain an ACECQA approved First Aid Certificate.

About you

The successful applicant will have relevant experience and an understanding of, and a commitment to, the ethos of Catholic Education.  In addition, you will have excellent time management skills, well developed interpersonal skills and a high proficiency of computer skills.

Mandatory Requirements

  • A current valid Blue Card under the Working with Children (Risk Management and Screening) Act 2000 (WWC Act) and valid Suitability Notice is a requirement of the position.
