Shenstone School is a primary aged special school for pupils with severe, and/ or profound and multiple learning difficulties. Shenstone School is one school based across two sites which are 5 miles apart - the Sidcup site age ranges are from nursery to Year 2 and the Crayford site is Year 2 – Year 6. The pupils at Shenstone School are amazing superstars who work very hard to achieve small and big steps of progress over time. They are supported by a dedicated staff team and we stand by our motto of “together we engage, thrive and achieve”. Shenstone School was graded as a 'good' school by Ofsted in November 2015.

Applications are invited from enthusiastic, passionate teachers who have a genuine interest in working to support pupils with special educational needs to achieve the very best outcomes. The class teacher position will require the teaching of pupils across a broad spectrum of SEN, including pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD) and pupils with ASD. Experience of working with primary aged pupils with additional needs is desired, but keen NQTs will also be considered. The April teaching position will initially be based at the Sidcup site as we are expanding! The September position could be on either site.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is considered to be a customer-facing position; as such it falls within scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.  The school therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. The appropriate standards are set out in the person specification. These will be applied during the recruitment/selection and probationary stages. The school is committed to equality and diversity in employment practice and service delivery.
