Great Oaks College is an expanding specialist independent college in its third year of operation. We are co-located within Oaklands School, a new state of the art, purpose built premises located in Gresham Road, Isleworth, close to Osterley Tube Station.

The college provides further educational opportunities to post 19 students that have moderate, severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties or autism. From September 2021, we will run three pathways: Vocational, Life Skills and Sensory, with a total of eleven class groups.

Due to the final stage of our expansion, we are looking to appoint one Life Skills Teacher to start as soon as possible or in September 2021, and one Vocational Teacher to start in September 2021.

Students within the Vocational Pathway, are working towards the development of skills that they need to prepare them for paid employment. These students have access to work experience on site including Horticulture, Catering and Facilities Management. They also access external work placements in the community. We expect most students to work towards becoming independent travelers. The students within the Vocational pathway generally have Severe to Moderate Learning Difficulties and/or Autism.

Students within the Life Skills Pathway are working towards the development of their day-to-day life skills including cooking, home management, shopping, travelling, developing communication and social skills and communication skills. Students also work to develop their functional Literacy, numeracy and ICT skills. The students within Life Skills generally have Severe Learning Difficulties and/or Autism.

Students on both Pathways access functional Maths and English lessons as well as ICT and PSHEC, these lessons are delivered by the class teacher. On a Wednesday all students have access to enrichment activities.

We would love to hear from teachers with experience of special education, who have the desire and motivation to make a difference to our students’ lives. We believe that all of our students are capable of making outstanding progress and we want to appoint individuals who share our belief.

We offer a comprehensive Induction and Inset programme for our staff, a pension scheme and employee assistance programme. Our College offers a friendly place to work with a supportive Senior Leadership Team.

Great Oaks College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and anyone applying to work at the College is expected to share this commitment. This position is subject to a satisfactory fully enhanced DBS check and references being received. All positions are subject to the satisfactory completion of a twenty six working week probation period.
