Job overview

About the role: The Hundred of Hoo Academy has an exceptional opportunity within our primary phase for a committed, enthusiastic and passionate Class Teacher to join us as we continue to grow. The primary phase of the academy successfully opened in September 2015 with our building being completed in September 2017. This is a unique chance to be part of a school on it’s journey to becoming a full established primary phase by contributing to its development, success and aspirations as an all-through academy. Joining The Hundred of Hoo will enable you to work with like-minded colleagues who share your goals and ambitions. You will be part of a team that provides outstanding educational opportunities for all of our pupils through creative, carefully sequenced and highly effective lines of inquiry where all learners are at the very core of driving our curriculum. Whether you are new to the teaching profession or experienced, you will contribute to leading and shaping the vision and future of our school and wider Trust.

This position will be based in Key Stage 2 to begin in September 2020 (we can offer the chance to join us in July 2020 for NQTs once your teacher training is complete). SEN experience is preferable as the successful candidate will be working with the Director of Inclusion to oversee the day to day operations of the academy's special educational needs policy. They will put provisions in place to ensure that progress of pupils with SEN improves relative to those without SEN and support staff understand the needs of SEN pupils.

We strongly recommend that you come to visit our setting so that you can see in action what an inspiring and purposeful environment it is, for both pupils and adults.

We encourage early applications as interviews will be conducted by the end of January 2020.

Working with our academy: The Hundred of Hoo Academy is a unique all through academy with pupils from Reception up to Sixth Form. This exciting provision demonstrates the academy’s sense of ambition to serve the community where pupils’ educational journey represents a cradle to university principle. Being part of a provision that caters for such a wide range of age groups means that there are copious opportunities for both children and teachers to extend their experiences to grow and develop in many different ways. To enrich our curriculum, we take advantage of the resources and subject specific expertise we have in abundance in our secondary phase. This means our pupils benefit from subjects like MFL, PE and Performing Arts being taught by subject specialists. There are also plenty of opportunities for teachers to plan engaging sequences of lessons in collaboration with a range of subject specialists beyond the aforementioned subjects. In addition to this, the pupils and staff have access to resources that are unique to an all through provision. These include; science labs, teaching kitchens, drama studios and sport facilities.

We are delighted to announce that following our most recent Ofsted inspection in July 2018 the hard work and dedication of the academy was recognised and was judged as 'Good' with 'Outstanding' features in terms of our early years provision and effectiveness of leadership and management.

Working with Leigh Academies Trust:  As of September 2019, our Trust is comprised of 25 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 13 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff.  We also have three further academies in development phase, due to open between September 2020-2021.  The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training providers and a large teaching school.

As part of Leigh Academies Trust you will have ample opportunity to collaborate with your peers both within the academy and across the whole Trust.  This is an important part of our vision as we know through experience that we perform better when we work together.  You are supported to undertake regular self-development to continue your professional development and hopefully progress further within the organisation.

We strive to offer a range of benefits that all employees can take advantage of which we regularly review and add to - click here to view what you’d receive as a member of staff with Leigh Academies Trust.

Diversity at our core: As a Trust we are passionate about diversity and recognise that as individuals we all bring something unique to the role regardless of age, gender, race, beliefs or disabilities which is why we treat all of our people equally, without compromise.

All roles within the Trust are subject to an Enhanced DBS check in addition to other pre-employment checks.
