Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher to join our Key Stage 1/Key Stage 2 team from September or November 2026 on a part-time, one-year fixed-term contract (Monday, Thursday, and Friday). This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate, committed educator dedicated to igniting a genuine love of learning in children and to fostering intellectual curiosity in every pupil.

As a Class Teacher, you will play a central role in creating a classroom environment that inspires exploration, creativity, and critical thinking. You will design and deliver high-quality, well-structured, and appropriately differentiated lessons that engage pupils, connect learning to their interests, and make meaningful links to the wider world. You will take pride in supporting each child’s individual learning journey, encouraging them to discover their strengths and passions, and ensuring that all pupils are both supported and challenged to achieve their very best. Using assessment effectively, you will continuously evaluate and refine your teaching to promote strong progress and high levels of attainment.

We welcome applications from teachers who hold a QTS or a PGCE qualification and who demonstrate a strong understanding of child development alongside current educational thinking. The successful candidate will be eager to contribute fully to the wider life of the school, including its rich co-curricular programme, and will share a wholehearted commitment to promoting a love of learning in all aspects of school life.

Applications for this role must be completed via an application form, along with a cover letter explaining your suitability for the role and a completed Equal Opportunities Form, and sent to Tamsin Hutson, HR Manager, at recruitment@dulwichprepsenior.org.uk.

For over 140 years, Dulwich Prep has stood as a leading preparatory school, inspiring generations of boys and, through our co-educational Nursery, young girls, to pursue their dreams. As we evolve, we remain committed to excellence in boys’ education, and our co-educational nursery, with the launch of our Senior School in September 2025. This development marks a significant chapter in our history, as we become Dulwich Prep & Senior, now serving boys, from ages 2 to 16 and girls, from ages 2 to 4. It is a privilege to introduce you to this exceptional school, set in 29 acres, where values, character development and academic achievement are central to our mission.

Our core values of Love, Courage, Gratitude, Humility, Justice, Self-Discipline, Service, and Honesty, are the foundation of everything we do. These principles shape a nurturing environment where each child’s mind, heart, and character are developed, fostering a culture of possibility and excellence. Woven into the fabric of every year group and experience, our values are explicitly taught to nurture empathy and encourage our pupils to become future leaders and changemakers in society.

At Dulwich Prep & Senior we set high expectations. Our goal is for every child to develop into an independent thinker with a strong sense of justice, prepared to become a responsible global citizen. With empathy and compassion at the core of their decision-making, our boys are equipped to face a rapidly evolving world with resilience and adaptability, both during their time here and beyond.

While we operate as a single school with a unified vision, we structure our community into five distinct sections, each catering to specific age groups. This allows us to deliver a tailored educational experience that meets the unique needs of every pupil and prepares them for the next stage of their journey, regardless of when they join us.

Dulwich Prep & Senior offers flexibility in educational pathways. We support transitions to senior schools at 11+ and 13+, while also providing the option for pupils to remain with us through Years 9 to 11, facilitating a smooth transition to sixth form post-GCSE.

We believe in working closely with parents to embed our values ethos, as these principles are key to fostering the character development and emotional intelligence necessary for success in today’s fast-paced society. We are confident that when values are instilled, academic excellence naturally follows. This is reflected in our recent achievements, with over 300 scholarships awarded between 2020 and 2024, and 93% of our leavers securing a place at their first-choice senior school.

We want our pupils to leave us having experienced the very best in pastoral care, teaching, and learning, having enjoyed the most dynamic and demanding academic and co-curricular programmes, and to have made friends for life.

Our greatest success will always be measured by the character of our pupils.
