Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 32 primary schools (19 of which have nurseries) and 2 stand alone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 20 children to our largest secondary with over 1200 pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. We are fortunate to have a growing number of new build schools, with 15 of our primary schools and 1 secondary having been built within the last 10 years and several new builds planned.
St David’s aim we state that we will work in partnership and we actively encourage you to take a positive role in the education of your children. With your support we can work together to make sure your child gets the very best primary education available. We maintain good practice in use of strategies to support children, meet their needs and provide an environment where every child can thrive.
As well as an exciting curriculum, unique to the school and its local and wider area, children at St. David’s will strive to develop themselves as confident individuals, effective contributors, successful learners and responsible citizens – our school is presently a Fairtrade School, a Rights Respecting School Level 1 and an Eco Schools’ Scotland Green Flag holder – we are all very proud!
We are also proud to be part of the St. David’s High cluster of primary schools. This means that we work very closely in partnership with our colleagues in the Secondary school and feeder primary schools. This includes: St. Luke’s, Mayfield; St. Andrew’s, Gorebridge; St. Mary’s, Bonnyrigg; St. Margaret’s, Loanhead; St. Matthew’s, Rosewell and Sacred Heart, Penicuik.
