Currently, Midlothian has 6 secondary schools, 32 primary schools (19 of which have nurseries) and 2 stand alone nursery schools. Our special school, Saltersgate, provides support for children with a range of physical, social, emotional, behavioural and learning difficulties. The schools range in size from our smallest primary school with around 20 children to our largest secondary with over 1200 pupils. We have a diverse range of school catchments, from rural to urban settings. We are fortunate to have a growing number of new build schools, with 15 of our primary schools and 1 secondary having been built within the last 10 years and several new builds planned.
Mayfield Primary School is a friendly, happy, caring, secure and stimulating school, where all children are valued and are encouraged to learn and develop to their full potential in every area of life. A key feature of our school is the continual striving towards the attainment of high standards, both academically and pastorally, supported by a fantastic team of teachers and support staff. As a Rights Respecting School, we seek to maintain positive relationships between pupils, staff, parents/carers and visitors.
Our school is part of a campus comprising of St. Luke’s R.C. Primary, Mayfield Nursery School, and the District Library. There is also a Family Reachout Unit that provides support for local families. A breakfast club and an after-school club for all local schools in the area are accommodated within the campus. Although we share the building with St. Luke’s R.C., both schools retain their own identities.
Mayfield Primary School provides a resourced provision for Midlothian children with Speech, Language and Communication difficulties.
We are looking for a caring and adaptable individual to join our excellent staff team.
