St Anthony’s Primary School is a denominational school serving the communities of Armadale, Westfield and Blackridge. The school has strong links with St. Kentigern’s Academy and its associated primary schools.

The school roll this session is 232, with a 9 class organisation including a nursery class. The school is staffed by a Head Teacher, a principal teacher, 9 class teachers, 1 part time support for learning teacher, together with a PE specialist and 2 admin assistants.

Pupils, parents/carers, staff, the parish and the wider community identify strongly with the school. The welcoming and inclusive atmosphere reflects the school’s commitment to a climate of mutual respect and trust based on shared values and positive, supportive relationships. Staff know the learners and their families well.

Effective self-evaluation, leading to improvement, is central to the life and work of the school. The staff team regularly discuss best practice and current educational developments to achieve consistent whole school approaches. Recent improvement work has focussed on raising attainment, particularly in Literacy and Numeracy. There is ongoing work strengthening parental engagement through collaborative learning initiatives. The school benefits from the support of an active Parent Council.

This post is considered Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful candidates will be required to join the Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to commencing employment and the cost will be met by the candidate.

The fee for a Full PVG Scheme Membership is £59 or Existing Member is £18. The £59 cost (where appropriate) will be deducted from your salary over a 1 or 3 month period by repayment schedule.  If your employment concludes before the amount is re-paid in full, the outstanding balance will be deducted from your final salary

Written approval by the Catholic Church will be required for this position.
