Classroom Aide to Support Students with a Medical Condition

We are seeking a caring and committed applicant to work as a full-time classroom aide alongside students who require extra care due to a medical condition.

The role requirements:

  • Support students with a medical condition to manage their condition alongside their schooling requirements
  • Work effectively with student, parents, classroom teacher and other staff to support the student
  • Work during normal school hours from 8.20am to 3.30pm
  • Some off-site travel and occasional additional hours (outside of school hours) may be required for excursions and extra-curricular activities
  • Responsibility to implement medical management plan in conjunction with the student, parents and staff
  • Some clinical support may be needed.

Essential / desirable requirements, skills and qualifications

  • The candidate should have a gentle and caring personality.  The medical condition is onerous for the student and a compassionate nature will be appreciated.
  • On-the-job training will be provided - knowledge or experience with diabetes would be beneficial
  • Experience working in a classroom environment or with children
  • Working with Children Check clearance and adherence to relevant school policies will be required.
  • Senior First Aid.

The position may suit a retired nurse or school teacher or university student.
