Mother Teresa School Ormeau opened for students in January 2011, as a P-3 school initially and will grow to a 3 stream school over time. The school motto is "Do small things with great love" and we are seeking to fill a number of fixed term positions across all year levels. As a developing school, there will be unique opportunities and challenges that will require applicants to demonstrate high levels of flexibility, initiative, cooperation and a preparedness to investigate and adopt contemporary pedagogies in a team based learning environment. Our learning environment seeks to support and extend learning through a contemporary pedagogy, making effective use of self directed learning. We are seeking to employ a teacher who embraces a ‘hands on’ approach to learning in a real world context. Proficiency in embedding a wide range of ICLTs across the curriculum would be an advantage. Applicants should be able to clearly articulate their understanding and application of expected and effective strategies in their teaching practice. It is highly desirable that the successful applicant will have considerable, relevant and recent experience in primary school education; be resilient in nature and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with staff, children and parents, and have clearly demonstrated an ability to work in a collaborative team environment. A letter of application addressing the criteria outlined above, should be included in the application.
