Can you help us make a difference to the lives of special young people?
Kennel Lane is a modern, vibrant and inclusive special school catering for the needs of learners who have a wide range of learning difficulties, aged from 2-19. We offer an exciting learning community where every individual is valued and nurtured.
We have a newly appointed Headteacher and a forward-thinking Governing Body committed to giving our young learners the best possible start in life. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to support us by providing administrative and procedural advice to the Governing Body. The job requires someone who is a good communicator who works well on their own using their own initiative and as part of a team. You will have excellent literacy, numeracy and IT skills.
The Clerk will be responsible for preparing agendas in consultation with the headteacher and the chair of governors; producing the minutes of governors’ meetings, distributing documentation and other information to the governing body. The clerk will need to become familiar with the DfE’s Governance Handbook, and provide accurate advice to governors as necessary.
The full governing body currently meets five times a year. The meetings are late afternoon, starting at 4.00 pm and last up to two and a half hours. There are twelve committee meetings a year starting at 9.15 am aiming to finish by 11.30 am. All meetings are held at the school. Outside of meeting times work can be carried out from home or at the school.
The new clerk will also be expected to attend the termly briefing sessions held by the Local Authority which are held during the working day and take advantage of other training sessions that may be offered.
