Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic, flexible and proactive person to join our Experiential Learning Team to be responsible for the leadership of Co-Curricular Sports activities in the school. The successful candidate will report to the Vice Principal Experiential Learning and will work closely with the Subject Area Leader for PHE and the Experiential Learning Team to help foster and grow Experiential Learning Opportunities for every student in our school. 


The Role

The Co-Curricular Sports Director will be responsible for leading the growth and quality of Co-Curricular Sports activities in the school in order to inspire personal excellence in each of our students, to meet the needs of our strong and diverse community. 


Key responsibilities include: 

  • Lead the ongoing process of evaluation, reflection and development of all aspects of Co-Curricular Sports provision, ensuring we meet our community’s evolving needs.
  • Lead the planning, promotion, running and review of all Co-Curricular Sports related events, including the Sports section for the Co-Curricular Fair, Recreational and Competitive Sport, ISST competitions, ISH Silverbacks Day, House Sport, Sports Awards Ceremonies and other inter-school and club competitions. 
  • Be responsible for the health and safety, risk management and safeguarding of all Co-Curricular Sports Activities.
  • Be responsible for the budgeting, inventory, maintenance and upkeep of equipment and relevant facilities.
  • Be responsible for the professional development of the Co-Curricular Sports Team to ensure adequate training is in place, including Sports First Aid and safeguarding.
  • Be responsible for the Co-Curricular Sport Events Calendar and social media feeds
  • Introduce new innovations such as establishing a Swim Team in collaboration with a local swim club
  • Teach up to 8 periods per week in a relevant subject 
  • Willing to coach at least one Co-Curricular Sport activity
  • Willing to lead competitive trips away

Qualifications and experience:

Essential

  • A degree in a relevant subject
  • A Bachelor or Master’s level degree in Education or Post-Graduate Diploma in Education
  • Qualification must be to teach all year groups of Secondary Education
  • Qualification must be for the Subject that you will be teaching
  • A teaching license (from your home country, or the country awarding the teaching qualification)
  • Experience teaching a relevant subject
  • Willing to work outside normal school operating hours
  • EU citizenship or valid working permit 
  • Fluent in written and spoken English


Preferred

  • Experience as a Sports administrator in the education sector
  • Has a range of contacts and experiences in the international school community

Applicants must provide details of three referees, of which one must be their most recent supervisor. If shortlisted, we will contact referees prior to interview. For teachers, we require one from the head of school or deputy head. Once shortlisted, interviews will be conducted online or in person, depending on the nature of the position and the applicant's location.

Qualifications

Please know that in order to work for us, you must be a fully qualified teacher in accordance with the standards required by the Dutch Education Authorities (DUO). Only candidates with full teaching certification and a valid teaching license in their home country, or from the country in which they obtained the teaching degree, will be considered for this role.

The teaching qualification (and preferably degree) must be for the subject that you will be teaching, in order to be recognized by DUO.

For applicants from the UK, you will have completed the PGCE and been awarded QTS plus successful completion of the NQT induction year.

The Hague is a beautiful city located behind the sand dunes and adjacent to miles of clean and attractive beaches.
