Commercial Manager

£50,000 pa + competitive benefits

Are you a commercially minded manager with the drive and ambition to join the amazing team at one of the leading independent schools in the UK?  This role is for a colleague with stamina, resilience and an ability to solve complex issues through careful management of resources and leadership of the commercial and lettings team.

We are seeking an outstanding, ambitious, hard-working and energetic individual with entrepreneurial drive who can lead and develop the School’s commercial operations. The successful candidate will be a charismatic and confident business professional, able to effectively represent and promote the School to potential customers and work with all members of the School community.  Candidates with high-level customer-care skills who are innovative and pro-active, and who are flexible in their approach to work are particularly welcome.  You should be experienced in managing the day-to-day operations of facilities used for external lettings and for identifying and promoting opportunities to maximise commercial avenues and income streams.

Royal Russell is a thriving co-educational school with over 1100 pupils between the ages of 3 and 18, situated on a beautiful green campus of 110 acres in the Shirley Hills, South London.  Our happy, vibrant and ambitious community makes us the family school of choice.

200 of our pupils are boarders from all over the world and are accommodated in five boarding houses with facilities that rank amongst the best in the South of England.  Our pupils, parents and staff experience a warm and friendly environment with strong pastoral care for every pupil alongside a comprehensive co-curricular and enrichment programme. Our vision is to provide an outstanding co-educational experience for children as the family school of choice.

We offer excellent benefits including a competitive salary on our own salary scale with scope for progression.  We also offer an immediate non-contributory pension with employer contributions, life insurance cover of three times annual salary, as well as free on site car parking and meals during term-time, and a discount on School fees including wrap-around care and Holiday Club, and the use of our sporting facilities.

Full details of our staff benefits, and recruitment procedures can be found on our School recruitment page https://www.royalrussell.co.uk/discover/vacancies.  You can also contact us by email at hr@royalrussell.co.uk or telephone our HR Department on 020 8657 4433.

Should you wish to have an informal discussion about this role then the Director of Operations and Finance would be happy to make time to meet you or talk on the ‘phone about this opportunity.  Please contact Mrs Moon to arrange this moond@royalrussell.co.uk.

Applications will be considered on receipt and should be submitted no later than 18 July 2022. Interviews will be held during the week of 25 July 2022. If you have not heard from us by 01 August 2022 you should presume that you have not been shortlisted on this occasion.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments are subject to a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (including a check against the Children’s Barred List) and other pre-employment screening including references and medical fitness.
