Compass - Student Information System Specialist - Subject Matter Expert 7-12

Contract position commencing 12 July 2021 until January 2025

The Student Information System Specialist (SIS) - Subject Matter Expert - secondary (SME) will develop, train and support staff in all Lismore systemic Catholic schools to successfully implement the Compass Student Information System (SIS) as part of the ONCE Project. The SIS-SME will work within a team consisting of the Project Manager, SIS Implementation Manager, team members, vendors and stakeholders (including CEnet) to deliver the Project. The role will begin with primary schools and expand to include all high schools according to the ONCE project plan.


An applicant must:

  • have a working knowledge of WHS and equity in employment with a demonstrated capacity to apply related principles and policies.
  • have respect for the teaching of the Catholic Church and by conduct and lifestyle, ability to give witness to the Church’s mission.
  • have a valid NSW Working with Children Check.
  • hold a current drivers License.

Selection Criteria

  • Experience working with contemporary, electronic student reporting systems and associated gradebooks/markbooks for the production of semester reports.
  • Experience in developing and implementing a secondary school timetable using Edval timetabling software or equivalent.
  • Experience working with student learning tasks/assessments and task weightings.
  • Experience in designing, developing and leading teacher professional learning.
  • Computer literacy including experience using computer-based administration systems
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a flexible, agile and innovative work environment.

Desirable Criteria:

  • A strong understanding of Lismore Systemic Catholic Schools' key Learning & Teaching documentation, agenda’s and requirements.
  • A working knowledge and skill-set with student information systems currently used in Lismore systemic schools (Schoolworx and Sentral).
  • Experience in a leadership and/or coordinator role within schools (2-point Co-coordinator level or higher).
  • Experience working in project teams.
