Founded by the Sisters of Mercy, St Michael’s Primary School is a medium sized, co-educational K-6 Catholic Primary School located in the St Michael’s Nelson Bay Parish within the Hunter Region of New South Wales. Current school enrolments are in excess of 300.

The school opened in January 1963 catering for 42 pupils and following a grant of 5.5 acres of land in 1969 a new school was opened in September of that year. A local benefactor donation of $100,000 saw the building of the school library in 2009 whilst a Federal Government grant brought about the building of a school hall that was completed in 2011. Staff with a strong commitment to ongoing personal, professional development is a key contributor to the schools’ ongoing success.
