We are a forward thinking and outward facing school, particularly in the areas of diversity and mental health. As a school we believe in restorative approaches and our systems are set up to de-escalate and return children to lessons as much as possible. We also challenge our pupils to have a growth mindset and to keep trying to be the best they can be, no matter what obstacles they face. Whickham is a school where everyone is valued and where learning is cherished in a safe, caring and supportive environment. A school where everyone is inspired to be the best they can be.
The Whickham School Counsellor will be part of a multidisciplinary team that supports the physical, mental health and emotional wellbeing of pupils.
This role will report to the Assistant Headteacher who leads on Mental Health and will also work closely with the Deputy Safeguarding Lead, Heads of Key Stage and Pastoral Leaders.
