Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which has consistently been rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.
Our busy College Counselling Service is a key part of a range of support services available to our students aged 16 – 19. You will work alongside other counselling professionals in your work which will include providing one to one sessions, assessing cases, promoting the service and liaising with other agencies both within and outside the College. You will receive external supervision to support you in your work.
We seek a part time Counsellor to work 17 hours a week, ideally on part of Monday and Wednesday plus all of Friday. We will, however, have some flexibility. The successful candidate will have a post graduate diploma in counselling or equivalent and will either hold or be eligible for BACP Accreditation. Experience of working with this age group and in an educational setting are desirable. As important, however, are the personal qualities of communication, empathy and an ability to relate to students at this point in their lives.
