Job overview
We seek an enthusiastic individual to supervise lessons and facilitate learning during the absence of subject teachers. A good standard of education including English and Maths is essential and you should have a broad general knowledge to be able to cover lessons in a range of subjects.
You will have significant experience of working with young people, preferably in groups or an educational setting, along with excellent communication and organisational skills and be able to handle conflict and employ behaviour management strategies. Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to make decisions using own initiative, along with IT skills including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and databases are essential.

Headlands now operates a Vertical Tutor Group system. In this system tutor groups are created from a mixture of year groups from year 7 – 11. The school is divided into five Houses to which a number of the groups belong.
Headlands School is very proud of its status as a Specialist Science College. We were one of the first schools in the country to achieve this status and are preparing for re-designation this year.
Being a Specialist College means we:
• are a member of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust
• are able to have smaller GCSE classes in some subjects
• can run a number of extra GCSE classes that do not normally run at state schools
(such as Geology and Astronomy)
• can run classes for the community such as GCSE Maths and ICT training
